Corduroy Jacket

I have nearly finished new jackets for the girls. They are similiar to the one I made for Eva, but these have set in sleeves instead of raglan sleeves and I changed the shape of the hood as Eva's is too big and either falls off or over her face. Hopefully I will have two finished jackets to show you soon.

Silk

Another dyeing experiment, lace weight silk/merino.

Hair Update: It has been 3 weeks now of no shampoo and conditioner. My hair has dramatically improved in the last 3 days. It was so awful I considered not leaving the house over the weekend. I washed it with baking soda on Sunday and it was so soft Monday and Tuesday. So hopefully it is goint to stay this way.

I overheard Grace saying this to Amelia on the weekend - "Milly you be Grace and I'll be Amelia" Hmm....

Softies for Mirabel

Pip has started auctioning softies to raise money for The Mirabel Foundation. My platypus is one of them. It is such a great cause. All the toys for auction this week can be found here.

I have completed one Nemo sock - three more to go.

These results don't surprise me one bit.

Old Boots

I wore a hole in the bottom of my favourite, very comfortable boots. So Dad drilled a few more holes in the bottom and Chris and the girls planted some violas. The good thing about old boots is they come in pairs just like the girls.

I seem to be drawn to bright green at the moment.

More Dyeing

This dyeing thing is becoming addictive. I dyed some green and pink (it isn't quite as vibrant as the picture). Kind of a mistake as I ran out of green dye and I didn't write down how I made it so I left some white.
It was a good mistake though as I reskeined it and I love it.
We have managed to get out of the house the last 2 days and we all feel much better for it. I joined the gym which is the best thing. The girls love the creche and I get an hour with no one screaming at me. I went yesterday and I managed to work my new ipod and not fall off the back of the treadmill. I was pretty impressed with myself.

Similiar, but Different

I'm often asked if Amelia and Grace are 'the same'. I don't even think they look the same and their personalities are quite different. I think this picture at breakfast this morning sums it up - similiar, but different.

Rain

Today it rained, we made bread, it rained, I washed but couldn't hang it out, was spewed on several times, we watched the rain out the window hoping for a break so we could go outside, watched a DVD, made the shopping list, but couldn't leave the house, watched 5 very happy ducks. I've checked the radar, it's not going to stop. I know I shouldn't complain, but we all need a bit of space from one another.
Here are som pictures from the weekend. The girls heading off to mini golf with Chris, Eva in the bath and some new toys.

Nemo Socks

I saw this yarn while surfing Etsy and knew the girls would love it. They ask me at least once an hour if their Nemo socks are ready yet so I think it was a good choice. So now I need just one more sock bag.
Cute and quick little shoes using this tutorial. The little pieces were not as tricky as I thought, but somehow one is slightly bigger than the other.

Dyeing Sock Yarn

I'be been experimenting with dyeing. I was pretty happy with this combination of green and teals.

I was excited to see an Etsy Spotlight Article on Australian Products for Children and even more excited to see my wombat featured. Check it out here.

Soap

I tried the easy soap recipe. It was really very easy and quick to make. I added some lavender essence at the end which has taken a bit of the soap smell away. There is a good discussion about making it here.

Sock Bag

I seem to have quite a few different socks on the needles and have run out of bags to keep them in. So a new one was in order. If I really thought about this logically I would have spent the time knitting so I had a new pair of socks and less need for a new sock bag.

Just thinking

I see so many good ideas on blogs that I tend to think about for ages before I do anything about them, like the bread (all those people who worried about it rising - it rises in my very cold house at night).
At the moment I am thinking about soap making after reading about this easy recipe.
I'm also thinking about shampoo and hair washing. Actually I'm doing more than thinking - I haven't used traditional shampoo for a week - I'm not sure how much longer I can hold out though. It feels disgusting, but an honest friend said it didn't look too bad. I found some more good information here.
A couple more bags I sewed while I was thinking.

No Knead Bread

I can't believe it took me so long to try the No Knead Bread recipe. So easy and the best bread I've made. My second loaf is just rising.

I finished a few things off last night after Eva finally decided she might sleep.

Etsy Favourites

A hectic week with a trip to Mum and Dad's farm and then to Perth. Nothing crafty to share so here are some of my favourites from Etsy.

Emme's Jacket

The Jewel Jacket for Emme is finished. This was made using a pattern from Calico and Ivy and the yarn is Colinette One Zero and Jo Sharp DK. The Colinette in moss stitch makes a very warm jacket.

I've cast on the Chevron Scarf from Last Minute Knitted Gifts using Socks that Rock. Yes I'm a sheep I tried to think of a different colourway, but I really love this combination.

New Fabric

I love this fabric I bought from Quilt Fabric Delights.
